In 2025, with more people working from home, fewer places to “be together,” and the way social media is shaping our lives, it’s increasingly common to feel lonely and disconnected.
At the same time, cool people, projects, and spaces are making a difference each day in their own way - and they’re so easy to miss.

Community Matters is here to explore what "community" means, and shine a light on the local spots and initiatives that help it grow.

Our mission is simple: learn together and encourage you to get involved IRL in your community (or others!), so you can find more of your people. These are spaces where you get to be included, there's the warmth and creativity of others, and you can be part of something bigger.
Our values are curiosity, creativity and connection: the big and the small!

Hi, I’m Dannielle, founder of Community Matters.

I’ve been making social media content for nearly eight years, and while the online world absolutely has its value, nothing beats real-life interactions at a real-world pace.
​
On my adventures, of all the beautiful places I’ve seen, what’s always made it extra special are the people. Hands down! Nothing compares to the lively cheer, friendly hellos, and wholehearted recommendations that locals offer - each with their own flavour.
​
Community Matters is my passion project, and a bit of a pushback against losing what makes life feel good: doing life together. Of course, it doesn't have to be overkill, but, instead, that simple things like having a cuppa and connecting in small ways can make a big difference.
